12.45 BST - And so we're back. My decision to go back to bed between sessions was a poor one, given that I now feel even worse than I did 2 hours ago. Doh. Anyway I've woken up to the interesting news that Renault are to hit the Piquet family with legal action over Fixgate. Which is appropriate because I was going to talk about it during this session anyway.
13.00 BST - The BBC team are discussing the meaning of Parabolica, which apparently can mean 'satellite dish'. How about that? They're now discussing the new higher kerbs at Monza, which nobody seems to like, as they can't launch over them anymore. And the ambient temperature is 27 degrees, with a track temperature of 37 degrees. But apparently heavy rain is rumoured for tomorrow, with light rain for Sunday!
The Foot - "I think Parabolica can also mean conehead. Good movie that."
13.05 BST - And so the session begins, and as usual most of the drivers come out to turn a couple of laps, with the first three being Nico, Algie and Bwemmy, before Heikki and Nakas better the three of them, and then Kubby goes quickest. The times are rather slower than in FP1 though. Still in the pits are Vettel, Sutil and Barrichello.
13.10 BST - Heikki has gone fastest again with Liuzzi up in second, which is nice for the returning Tonio. Sutil remains the only man not to leave the pits thus far in the other Findia.
The Foot - "Go Liuzzi! I've always liked him andespeciallythewayhetalksreallyfastwithnogapsbetweenhiswords
butitsnotamumblelikekimiitsjustlikeheshadtoomuchrelentlessifthereissuchathing."
13.20 BST - Boobens and Button have climbed into second and third in their Brawns, to spoil Liuzzi's fun a tad. Vettel is now 11th, a couple of tenths behind teammate Webber who is 7th. Glock has come from nowhere into 5th in the Yoda, although he's now displaced by Vettel who goes 4th, with they being the only two cars out on track. Naturally the moment I type that, Jarno Trulli and Romain Grosjean take to the circuit. Sutil is still in the pits because his engine is being changed.
13.25 BST - Liuzzi is back on track as well, which is natural given he's barely sat in an F1 car for two years. The World Champion is yet to set a representative time, but has taken to the track to see to that. Grosjean pops into 13th place, one place ahead of his teammate Alonso, and next time around goes even quicker to move into 8th. Alonso moves up to 5th, but immediately drops to 6th as his teammate again improves.
13.30 BST - The BMWs look alright this weekend, and Heidfeld goes quickest, with Hamilton moving up to 3rd place. Grosjean improves again and is 5th again.
The Foot - "It's interesting to see the BMW team pour their entire budget into this car with no care for next season, and the effect it has had on their pace in such a short time. Same with Renault last year."
13.35 BST - Liuzzi returns to an impressive 5th in the Findia, while teammate Sutil is a doubly impressive 2nd!
13.40 BST - I wonder how Fisi feels seeing the Findias running so well when he's down in 17th. I'm sure he'll improve from there though, but it seems that on Luca Badoer Memorial Day he's doing his best to emulate his predecessor.
13.45 BST - Time for our halfway rundown I guess, although as ever it'll change as I transcribe it. Ickle, Sut, Jarno, Hammy, Kimi, Kubby, Heikki, Boobens, Tonio, Sebvet, Fisi, Grojo, Nando, Algie, Nakas, Webbo, Nico and Bwemmy. It seems to be Mark's turn to have a light session this time, having completed just 5 laps at this point.
13.50 BST - Sure enough, Boobens ruins my order by going up to 5th. Nakajima has a moment on the exit of Parabolica, running very wide into the gravel but managing to keep it out of the barrier thankfully. Nando meanwhile becomes the latest man to pop through the 'other' first chicane, through the polystyrene barriers on the escape road. Kubica then tops the timesheets by a third of a tenth from his teammate. The Findia of Sutil meanwhile is absolute dynamite, and goes purple in S1 and S3 to take the quickest time.
13.55 BST - Work is finally completed on the floor of Webber's Red Bull, and he returns to the track. Alonso does a purple S1 but can only go 9th at the end of the lap.
EMAIL! - Fully paid up member of the Elbow Fan Club David Black has got in touch again, and he says he'd be interested to know "What do you think of the Renault enquiry? What is your gut feeling towards who is guilty/not guilty?", before telling me to "keep up the excellent work sir." I am touched.
I was hoping someone would ask about this, as it really is the big issue in the paddock at the moment. The first thing I'll say is that I never have been a great fan of the Piquet family, I think they're a very arrogant bunch, Equally, I have no great affection for Flavio Briatore, I think he's a bit of a prat. So I wouldn't be surprised if either of them had instigated this situation. The other man involved of course is Pat Symonds, a very clever man with many years of experience, and who was involved with Benetton through the controversies of the Schumacher era, and a man who 'could' (and I have to choose my words carefully here incase I get sued as well) conceivably have come up with the clever idea of crashing one car to help the other. Remember, Alonso had been absolutely flying last year in Singapore and looked to have a great shot at Pole position, but broke down in Q2.
My gut feeling is that Piquet is talking a load of Boobens, but it's difficult to know for sure. Either way, it's not the first time a driver has tried to blackmail a team in this way - remember Alonso trying to blackmail McLaren with the spying allegations in 2007, with the result being Ron Dennis reporting his own team to the FIA - this is similar in that regard. Either way, we only have a week and a half to wait to find out. Fortunately it seems Alonso is completely blameless, which is good news for me anyway.
14.15 BST - Well, after that we should probably get back to the on-track 'action'. Mark Webber has been doing many laps, and has gone up to 11th, just one spot behind Alguersuari. The whole field is separated by less than 1.3 seconds, which is nothing. Obviously, as I say that, Nakajima goes up to 11th, putting Fisi into Badoerth. Nakas improves again next time round into 6th. As ever he's going pretty well in Practice, it's Qualifying where his weekend seems to fall down time after time.
14.20 BST - Kovalainen gets his act together and goes 5th. Nothing else is really happening.
14.25 BST - Kovalainen has just smashed the first section best time, but is bettered even then by Grosjean. We'll call it the KERS effect. Heikki finishes his lap to 2nd, about a sixth of a second behind Sut. Grosjean was 18th but completes a strong lap to go third, just behind Heikki. Fisichella is still down in 20th. Vettel meanwhile improves but stays 18th.
14.30 BST - Grosjean is on a stonker, and goes to the top of the timesheets, although his teammate pops around and is quicker at S2 until he gets a bit held up by a Toyota, still he goes second. Webber improves but stays 14th, and Ickle runs off into the gravel at Ascari but rejoins. Sutil retakes second, and next time around retakes P1 with the first lap in the 1:23s this weekend.
14.35 BST - The clock has stopped so lets see if anyone can make a last minute improvement. The answer seems to be no, so Force India's domination of F1 continues! And how ironic that their former driver, now in a Ferrari, ended the session 20th and last. For the last time today then, lets have a rundown:
Sutil, Grosjean, Alonso, Kovalainen, Kubica, Glock, Heidfeld, Raikkonen, Nakajima, Buemi, Hamilton, Liuzzi, Trulli, Webber, Alguersuari, Barrichello, Rosberg, Vettel, Button and Fisichella.
I feel like I've barely mentioned the four title protagonists today, which pretty much sums up how its been going for them lately. They could be left to fight for the scraps left by the KERS runners and Force India this weekend.
That concludes my contribution for the weekend then. Thanks to anyone who unfortunately sat through this with me. The Head will be with you for FP3 just before 10.00 BST tomorrow morning, with The Foot bringing you Wally from around 12.30 BST tomorrow afternoon. Our Head will return on Sunday for the Race from 12.30 BST. Until Singapore then, it's cheerio from me.
