European GP. FP2 Report. Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in second practice for the European Grand Prix at Valencia today.  The Spaniard, whose Renault team were facing a no-show at this race merely days ago after their trangression in Hungary, recovered from a transgression of his own today, locking up and sliding into Nick Heidfeld's BMW Sauber, to set the fastest time by a fair margin in the closing minutes of the session.

The Brawns were again on the pace, taking second and third, while usual practice King Nico Rosberg had to settle for 4th.  The Force India duo again impressed, with Adrian Sutil 6th and Giancarlo Fisichella backing him up this time in 8th.  Red Bull however may be slightly concerned with 9th for Sebastian Vettel and 14th for Mark Webber.

McLaren had hit the heights in the first session, but were less on-song this time, with Lewis Hamilton breaking his front wing with an early spin and being forced to sit out most of the session, while teammate Kovalainen trailed in 10th.  Toyota showed a minor improvement, ending the session in 12th (Jarno Trulli) and 15th (Timo Glock).

Also showing a minor improvement was Luca Badoer, who managed not to finish last, although he was only 18th after his 37 laps, over 2 and a half seconds behind fastest man Alonso.
