Singapore GP. FP3 Report. Despite a rather crap "crash" at the end, outgoing champion Lewis Hamilton demonstrated that McLaren's new parts were more than up to the task by dominating the final hour-long practice session for the Singapore night race Grand Prix.Boosted by the return of seemingly still his other half Nicole Scherzinger, Lewis Hamilton spent the majority of the 60 minute session with his #1 car parked in the number one position.
His only real challengers were German duo Sebastien Vettel who swept aside any engine reliability issues to tuck in 2 tenths behind Hamilton and Singapore specialist Nico Rosberg, who was an impressive third for the underpowered Williams Toyota.
McLaren's good form was not confined to their world champion, with Kovalainen taking a strong 4th place albeit a considerable 8 tenths behind Hamilton. Kovalainen was joined in close proximity by the evidently less crap BMW team as shown by Kubica and Heidfeld taking 5th and 6th respectively.
Brawn struggled during FP3 after dominating FP1, Boobens and the moaning Button only able to muster a 7th and 14th between the pair of them. Glock, Bwemmy and Trulli did well to round out the top 10.
Further back Ferrari's struggles continued, with even Raikkonen unable to hustle the Maranello entrant any higher than 12th. This was a less embarrassing position than his team mate Giancarlo Fisichella who propped up the field 2.5 seconds off the pace.
Force India appear to have blown their chance of a victory this year, with their car obviously not enjoying tracks that involve corners - Sutil even trailed Liuzzi as the pair wound up 16th and 17th.
An altogether dull session, livened up somewhat by Hamilton and Raikkonen having minor excursions that fortunately resulted in no damage. The last 10 minutes of the session showed traffic will be a major issue in qualifying, so don't be surprised to see blocking penalties applied when qualifying begins at 15.00 BST.
