Worth the weight

The FIA has released the fuel weights for tomorrows Chinese Grand Prix, and to be frank, they're basically what you would've expected following todays qualifying results.

Fernando Alonso is the lightest car out there, he has 32kg of fuel onboard, which is about half what Norbert Haug takes on at a McDonalds visit. The other lightweights are the Red Bull pair, with Vettel tipping the scales at 39kg of fuel, Webber just a bit heavier with 41.5kgs.

The Brawns are next up on the grid, and they have an impressive 54kgs and 56kgs in Button and Barrichellos cars respectively. Unless they get caught up seriously with Webber and Alonso, they should have no problem overcoming Vettel at the first stops.

At the other end of the spectrum, Heikki Kovalainen will be pulling around an extra bladder of fuel, he'll start tomorrows race with 92kgs of gas, while Nelson Piquet Jr will have excuse for his poor speed, as he'll have a whopping 92.9kgs onboard. Creating some other mid-pack fun will be Adrian Sutil, who must think he qualified 9th not 19th, he's got less fuel onboard than the Brawns!

Of the other notable runners, Trulli again put his car higher than it deserves to be, he was less than 7 tenths off pole man Vettel, but had almost 50% more fuel than the German. Disappointed will be Nico Rosberg (and The Head), he only has 45.5kgs of fuel yet qualified 1.2 seconds off the pace.

So, with the mystery gone, we can now look forward to tomorrows race with knowledgable heads and shaken fists. Don't ask me why.
