Reports now seem to confirm that Sebastien Buemi has done enough to grab a seat at Toro Rosso for the 2009 season.
The 20-year-old Swiss-born Buemi, who underwhelmed in last year's GP2 Series, but impressed during the December tests for the team, has been all-but confirmed in one of the available seats with the squad for this year's championship.
Although an official announcement is yet to be made, mutterings from recently departed STR boss Gerhard Berger, along with Buemi himself, go far enough to say that the deal is done.
Furthermore, team boss Franz Tost has said that he would look to move Buemi near to the team's HQ in order to help the rookie's transition into the sport. "Buemi is going to stay close to Faenza," he muttered, "If we can work together each and every day, we will be getting the maximum out of him."
Buemi has been on the Red Bull development ladder for the last two years, and has spent a year and a half in GP2, picking up a pair of wins in the reverse grid sprint races at Magny-Cours and Budapest last year on his way to 6th place in the final standings.
The move leaves 08 STR driver Sebastien Bourdais seemingly in a straight fight with Japanese man Takuma Sato for the remaining seat with the team, and brings the dullest silly season in living memory almost to a close, with only the ongoing issue with The Artist Formerly Known As Honda to be sorted.
