The latest FIA mandated medical tests on Felipe Massa's left eye have proven that the injuries he sustained during his dramatic accident at the Hungarian Grand Prix have now fully healed, leaving him free to continue his recovery at Ferrari's HQ.

Massa's left eye was damaged in the accident during the qualifying session at the Hungaroring, when he was struck on the helmet by debris from Rubens Barrichello's car.

Although initial tests suspected that the Brazilian may have suffered permanent damage to his sight, it was soon reported that his vision would completely recover.

These latest tests, at a hospital in Paris, show that the injuries he suffered where the debris pierced his helmet have now recovered.

The news means that Massa now looks to be free to complete a day's testing at the Fiorano circuit on Monday, behind the wheel of a 2007 Ferrari decked out in GP2-spec slick tyres.

Further tests, required by the FIA, are scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Pitie Salpetriere hospital in order to confirm the other stages of his recovery from the accident, which also saw the Brazilian suffer a fractured skull.

"The first outcomes are positive," a Ferrari statement read after today's tests, "especially the ophthalmological exam confirmed that Felipe, who arrived with his personal doctor Dino Altmann, has recovered the functions of his left eye by 100 per cent."

Massa returned to Ferrari HQ at the start of this week, where he has spent time in the Italian team's simulator.

However, despite the positive news, Massa admitted earlier that he is almost certain to miss the last two races of the 2009 season, and will likely concentrate on being fit in time for the start of next season in Bahrain.
