Campos set to sign surname for 2010

The new Campos Meta F1 team is all set to reveal famous-sounding Brazilian driver Bruno Senna as their first race driver signing "imminently" for their inaugural Formula One season in 2010, according to some tweets he just wrote.

Senna has been angling for an F1 drive since he stormed to second place behind the might of Giorgio Pantano in the 2008 GP2 Series. But with almost no F1 seats becoming available for 2009, he was forced to put his plans on hold for a year after missing out on a drive with Brawn to Rubens Barrichello.

But, after a year of racing the odd sportscar and sending his CV to as many of F1's lower midfield teams as possible, it now looks like Senna, nephew of three-time F1 champion Ayrton, has got his hands on a race seat with the new Spanish team.

The news, which seems to be based around Senna's sodding Twitter account, has been speculated on for weeks, with Senna known to be talking to the new teams for 2010, as well as with Force India.

"Guys, I'd like to thank you all for the great support! After many weeks of hard work and negotiations, me and my management finally made it," he haphazardly typed in a 140-character-or-less message on Friday night, confirming that the deal was in place.

He added: "I'm very happy and I'd like to share this moment with you! Now it's time to focus and work hard in preparation for next season!

"Lots of hard work to come and, hopefully a great starting point! All the best! Valeu!!"

Senna raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours this year, as well as competing in the Le Mans Series in Europe in an Oreca LMP1 car, finishing on the podium in his first race.

He has a planned test with the Renault team on one of the pre-season 'young driver days', but it is unclear if the Campos deal will now prevent this from going ahead.
