Timo Glock has said that he has "several possibilities" to remain in F1 into the 2010 season, despite the Toyota team allowing the option they had on his services to lapse, leaving his future with the Japanese team uncertain.
According to reports across the German media, Glock was told that the team would not be taking up the option on his services next year just 24 hours before Glock secured his best result of the season with second place in the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend.
Although the initial reports effectively stated that Glock had been 'fired', a Toyota spokesperson later said that the team is still interested in Glock for 2010, but that they were merely allowing each side of the partnership to "assess their options".
"The door is not closed," the spokesperson added.
This news, coupled with the continued uncertainty over the future of the other Toyota driver, Jarno Trulli, have added fuel to the fire marked "Toyota are legging it at the end of the season", though the spokesperson denied that the driver situation was any indication of the team reassessing it's future in the sport.
Glock insisted that he was still very confident of securing a drive for 2010, despite the news over the weekend, and admitted that given his potential unemployment, the Singapore podium was "certainly timely".
He said that: "I have several possibilities and I am very confident. Let's see what happens this week."
Glock also noted that the driver market was particularly crazy for next season, after a number of big-name defections between the rival teams and the addition of at least four brand new teams to the grid.
"The teams are looking around, the drivers are looking around, so it's quite an interesting period in Formula 1," Glock shouted at Reuters, "A podium like we had in Singapore does show what I can do.
"The market is a bit full at the moment with drivers but my possibilities are quite good."
