Virgin Racing test driver Luis Razia is continuing his efforts to find something to do in 2010, in lieu of actually having any testing to do, after securing a deal to race in the British F3 round at the Silverstone Arena track this weekend.

Razia is currently employed as one of Virgin's two test drivers, along with 2009 Formula 2 champion Andy Soucek, and is currently contracted to race for the Rapax team in the 2010 GP2 Series, which gets underway next weekend in Barcelona.

And ahead of the GP2 season getting going, Razia will get a chance to race the new Silverstone Arena layout in the second round of the British Formula 3 Championship. Razia will drive for the Team West-Tec squad in one of their National Class-spec Dallara-Mugen Honda cars.

Three F3 races will take place across the weekend in support of the FIA World GT1 Championship, as the Arena track hosts it's inaugural competitive event ahead of hosting both Formula 1 and MotoGP later in the year.

"It's purely a one-off race outing at the moment, although Luiz has a continuing test programme with us. He is taking the opportunity to learn the new Silverstone Arena circuit," explained West-Tec boss John Miller.

"The car was competitive at Silverstone in the recent test and we think Luiz ought to go well. Hopefully we will see the car out on a regular basis with another driver soon."

The £5 million Arena track is set to be opened later on Thursday by the Duke of York, with the new 0.472 miles of track between the Abbey and Brooklands corners the first stage of the track's redevelopment after reclaiming the contract to host the British Grand Prix from Donington Park.

The track will then gain a new pit and paddock area on the Abbey straight in time for the 2011 F1 race.
