Ferrari top reliability table for 2010 so far

E-mail Print PDF

The Ferrari Formula One team have been crowned the most reliable of the twelve F1 teams so far in the 2010 season after some geeky research from Germany's Auto Motor und Sport publication, way ahead of their title rivals.

Although the Italian team were flagged up earlier on in the season for a run of reliability issues, with the team suffereing a series of early-season engine failures in practice, the team has actually completed a whopping 99.8% of the total laps so far this season.

Only Fernando Alonso's engine failure with three laps of the Malaysian GP in Sepang remaining have blotted the Ferrari score, meaning that between Felipe Massa and Alonso, they have completed 1471 of the 1474 racing laps so far this year.

Despite this reliable form, the team trail both Red Bull and McLaren in the constructors championship, thanks to a run of poor results in the middle of the season.

Red Bull, another team renowned for reliability concerns, seem to have shaken off that particular stereotype. The two RB6 cars have been the second most reliable of the season so far, with Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel completing 1373 laps.

McLaren were only fourth in the table, thanks to the early retirements of Jenson Button in Monaco and Lewis Hamilton in Hungary.

At the other end of the scale, the newbie teams and Sauber came out as the least reliable, with all four teams completing far less than three-quarters of the available laps this season.

Sauber are the least reliable package on the 2010 grid, thanks largely to Kamui Kobayashi's early-season run of first lap retirements.

The Swiss team have completed just 57.9% of the laps so far in 2010.
