Fauzy in line for Friday practice run

Malaysian 'Lotus' test driver Fairuz Fauzy could get a run in the team's T127 car at his home grand prix weekend in Kuala Lumpur, with the team reported to be considering running him in part of the Friday practice sessions.

Fauzy completed his second and final pre-season test day with the new team on Thursday at Barcelona, but may well be in line for a further appearance later in the year.

According to reports in the Finnish media, Fauzy denies that any deal to run on Friday in Malaysia is in place, saying that he doesn't know when he will next get to drive the car.

But the Turun Sanomat newspaper reports that he could well secure a Friday deal at the Sepang circuit, in an effort from the team to drum up home support for the Malaysian driver and team.

"I have to be ready all the time to drive the car," Fauzy is quoted as saying by the newspaper, "You never know what will happen."

The potential deal would echo the Force India Friday practice schedules for 2010, which will see test driver Paul di Resta given the odd day on the track in FP1.

Fauzy added that he had been happy with his runs in the T127 on Thursday, despite ending last on the timesheets. He expected that the 'Lotus' team would eventually be around three seconds off the ultimate pace come the start of the season.

"We're still far off but there is still improvement to be had," he platituded after the test.

Jarno Trulli takes over behind the wheel of the car today.
