Stefan GP tie up Toyota support deal

The weird Serbian Stefan GP team, which is preparing to get itself ready for the upcoming F1 season despite not being on the entry list, has upped it's efforts in the wake of Campos's current crisis, by announcing a technical linkup with Toyota.

The team, led by Serbian businessman Zoran Stefanovic, has already bought the rights to Toyota's unused 2010 F1 car design in the wake of the Japanese company's withdrawal from the sport, and according to reports from the team itself, have begin to crash test their new chassis.

And now the team has announced a deal with Toyota Motorsport that will see the team receive technical support from Japan.

"Stefan GP has just come to a basic agreement with Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) that Stefan GP will receive technical supports from TMG," a statement from the team beamed.

"Further details will be released to the press in due course."

The Stefan team will be redoubling their efforts in the wake of the current crisis at Campos Meta, who are struggling to find a 2010 budget amid rumours that the team is to be fully or partially sold off.

Stefanovic is rumoured to have been offered a stake in the team, but declined as he would rather take over the grid slot itself.

Should Campos actually make it to the grid, Stefan GP's alternative plan for 2010 will be to spend the year testing drivers, given the fact that they will fall outside the remit of F1's current crippling test ban regulations.
