A contentious European Grand Prix result was slightly rearranged by the stewards after nine drivers were found to have broken the rules over the minimum lap time required when lapping behind the safety car itself.
The ruling came on Sunday after the race, but fails to address a number of complaints by other drivers in the aftermath of the Valencia race.
McLaren's Jenson Button, the Williams pair of Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg, the Renault duo of Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov, the Force India drivers Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi, Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi and Sauber's Pedro de la Rosa were all penalised five seconds.
The stewards confirmed that the penalties were for "failing to stay above the minimum time set by the FIA ECU when the Safety Car was deployed."
The penalties change little in the points positions for Valencia, though Fernando Alonso overtakes Buemi for eighth, while Nico Rosberg picks up the final point in tenth at the expense of de la Rosa.
The stewards also penalised Timo Glock 20 seconds for "ignoring" blue flags when being lapped.
