Red Bull driver and championship leader Mark Webber has said that he still needs at least one more win in the remaining four races if he wants to take the title, after finishing behind two of his rivals at the Singapore GP last weekend.
Webber came home third in Singapore, to take his eighth podium finish from the fifteen races so far. He now sits 11 points ahead of Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso in the points standings.
But the Australian has said that although podium finishes are "beautiful", he needs to add at least one more win to his collection this season to have a chance of keeping hold of top spot in the standings.
"I still need to win races," he bellowed at the BBC following his podium finish in Singapore.
"Podiums are beautiful to get, of course. They're important. [But] whether there's going to be reliability to still play a part in this championship ... I still need to win some races."
Webber has already won the Spanish, Monaco, British and Hungarian Grands Prix this season, and he remains hopeful to add to that tally, saying that his below-par performance in Singapore, where he finished nearly half a minute behind race winner Alonso and his team mate Sebastian Vettel, should be his "toughest" race of the season.
"This was, hopefully, my toughest weekend of the year out of the way and I can perform better on other tracks," he grinned.
He added: "We know non-finishes hurt us a lot, in the end I got from fifth on the grid to third.
"After a very, very taxing grand prix for the car - it's pretty solid for the driver too on the physical and concentration side - a very long race, it worked out well."
As for the next race in Suzuka, he said: "I think we can be good there, so we're ready for it."
Webber, who has a lack of experience in title battles compared to his rivals, admitted that the pressure to keep performing throughout the season was tough, but said that he knows that those pressures are "part" of the sport.
"It is solid. Like Fernando and I said, it's a long, long season," he babbled.
"You look at a lot of other sportsmen and women competing from basically February through to November week-in, week-out. It's not like tennis or golf where you can decide what tournaments you want to do, we have to rock up every weekend, so does the team.
"We're flying around the world. This is all part of it. Maximum concentration and focus from all the team and all the individuals involved."
