2012 Lotus Renault GP driver Romain Grosjean has said that he is sure that he and new team mate Kimi Raikkonen will work well together next season, saying that he feels he shares the same "philosophy" to racing as the Finn.

Grosjean was confirmed alongside Raikkonen earlier this month, with the newly-renamed Lotus F1 Team rewarding him with a drive after winning the 2011 GP2 Series.

The Frenchman will return to F1 to partner 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, who has been rescued from his F1 limbo by the team.

And ahead of beginning his new partnership with the Finn, Grosjean said that he was looking forward to working alongside him.

"I met him last week and he is a nice guy," he grinned in an interview with the Lotus Renault GP, or whatever we're calling them now, website.

"I think we have more or less the same philosophy, we both want to give our best for the team to get good results next year and I am looking forward to working with him."

He added that he was now focusing on his time in the team's new car during pre-season testing, saying that the limited testing timetable will mean that every day he gets in the car will be crucial.

"I will be looking to give the best I can to help the team develop the car as much as possible before Melbourne," he said when asked about his aims for the pre-season.

"Testing is essential in preparing for the season ahead, and I am really looking forward to working with the guys and giving feedback on the car so that we can be ready for Australia.

"Also, each driver will only get six days of running before the start of the season, so every kilometre in testing will have to be useful. I can't wait to get started."

He added: "The good thing for me is that I have already worked with the team at the end of last season [in two Friday practice appearances].

"I met with the guys last week, and also had a chance to go into the wind tunnel and see next year's car.

"It is always something special for a driver to see the car being developed and to meet the people working so hard to give us a good car for next year."

Grosjean drove for Renault in seven races at the end of 2009, but failed to score a point for the team.
