Virgin Racing driver Jerome d'Ambrosio has said that he is not worrying about his future in the sport, saying that he felt "very much supported" by his management team, and he added that he was hopeful for a strong second half of the season.
D'Ambrosio joined Virgin at the start of the 2011 season, but has struggled to match team mate Timo Glock at times in the early races.
Earlier in the year, rumours arose that the Virgin team were planning to replace the Belgian with Canadian Formula Renault 3.5 driver Robert Wickens.
But those rumours were quickly denied by d'Ambrosio's management at Gravity Sports Management, and he has continued with the team throughout 2011.
And despite not being re-signed by the team at the same time as team mate Timo Glock, who announced his own contract extension during the German GP weekend, d'Ambrosio has said that he is relaxed about his future.
"I am very much supported by Gravity," he grinned in an interview with Belgian television this week, referring to either his management team or his position on the planet itself.
"It allows me to just get on with what I have to do at the Grands Prix."
He added that he had taken heart from his performance in the German GP, where he finished just over 10 seconds behind team mate Glock.
"It was a slight turn, I hope, in my season, because until now I have had some bad patches, especially on Saturdays," d'Ambrosio rambled.
"But in Germany I managed to put everything in place and be close to my team-mate all weekend."
He added: "I have finished 9 of the 10 races, which is important because it means I have made few mistakes. I have to continue like that."
The Virgin team themselves, though, have said that they are not going to hurry into a decision over Glock's team mate for next year.
Asked if the team were leaving their second driver deal until late in the season, Virgin CEO was quoted as saying by Autosport that: "I would think so, certainly after the break, probably on a similar time scale to what we had last year."
But he remained positive about d'Ambrosio, saying: "Jerome's doing a really great job, I think he's surprised a lot of people with his maturity in the races as well."
