2012 Formula One calendar ratified in full

The Formula One Commission today officially ratified the 20-race 2012 schedule as originally published back in July, despite some recently rumoured concerns over a number of the planned events on next season's calendar.

The Commission confirmed that the sport would have a second attempt to run a 20-race season in 2012, after this year's calendar dropped to 19 with the cancellation of the Bahrain GP.

Next year's Bahrain race was one of three races thought to be concerning F1 chiefs, with the political issues in the country still not resolved.

Also under pressure was the Korean Grand Prix, which has recently admitted that it is seeking to renegotiate the amount they pay in race fees to Bernie Ecclestone.

Furthermore, the planned new United States GP in Austin, Texas, was reportedly under threat of being delayed until 2013 over construction concerns.

But all three races have been included on the finalised 2012 calendar, following today's F1 Commission meeting in Geneva.
