The Sauber Formula One team have confirmed that they will give current GP2 driver Fabio Leimer a full day of testing in their current C30 car at the traditional Young Driver Test session at the Abu Dhabi circuit later next month.

The 2011 Young Driver Test will take place immediately after the Abu Dhabi GP weekand, and before the 2011 season finale in Brazil.

For this season, the test will span three days from November 15th-17th.

And Sauber have confirmed that Leimer, who has raced in GP2 for the last two seasons, will take part in the first of the three days.

Regular reserve driver Esteban Gutierrez will then take over for the remainder of the test.

"We are pleased we can offer Fabio this opportunity" Sauber CEO Monisha Kaltenborn grinned as Leimer's test was announced.

"The test opportunities for young drivers are extremely limited nowadays, and it is always exciting to see how they deal with all the complexity of a Formula One test."

Leimer himself added that he was happy to fulfil his "dream" of driving a Formula One car with the Swiss squad.

"When I found out that I will definitely take part in the Formula One test I realised for the first time what this actually means," he rambled.

"Being a racing driver, of course, you always dream of Formula One. That this dream is now coming true is almost unbelievable.

He went on: "On top of that not many Swiss drivers have ever had the chance to test for the Sauber F1 Team.

"For this reason it is an even more special honour for me to be able to get my first laps in an F1 car under my belt as a Swiss for the Swiss team.

"I am very much looking forward to that challenge and want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has made it possible.”

Leimer won the International Formula Master championship back in 2009, and has won two races in his two seasons of GP2 so far.

He finished 14th in the 2011 standings.
