Scuderia Toro Rosso drivers Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari have both said that they are "very happy" with their qualifying efforts, after both cars made the top ten shootout stage of qualifying for the Indian GP.
The Toro Rosso squad have been the big improvers of recent races, after a significant car upgrade was rolled out at the Japanese Grand Prix. The team took their best result of the season so far last time out in Korea, and followed that up by getting both cars into the top ten on the grid in India.
Although neither driver set a time in Q3, following the standard 2011 practice of saving tyres for the race, Buemi and Alguersuari will line up on the fifth row of the grid.
And after the session, both drivers said that they were delighted to have continued their strong late-season form.
"I am very happy for the team as they did a fantastic job and I congratulate them and thank them for it," Buemi, who will line up 9th on tomorrow's grid, grinned, "Having both cars in Q3 is amazing."
He added: "Now, I hope we can have a good race tomorrow, because there are no points for what we did today. The first race at this circuit is bound to be an interesting experience.
"It was teamwork that delivered today's result, with everyone giving their maximum since we arrived here in India."
And Alguersuari added that he was looking forward to a close fight with the Sauber team throughout the race tomorrow, as the Italian team looks to overhaul their Swiss rivals in the championship.
"I am very happy, especially for the team as we are both in good positions and Sebastien was really fast, right from yesterday, when I had some problems. Today he drove a brilliant lap," the Spaniard rambled.
"We solved my problems overnight so that I could also be competitive today."
As for the race, he added: Tomorrow, we have a good chance of doing well starting from these positions and it could be useful in terms of the championship as our main rivals, the Saubers, are starting behind us.
"Strategy will be important and if we do everything right then maybe we can bring home a big points score.
"The increase in performance at this point of the season is down to the great job the whole company has done in developing the car."
"I am hoping for a top eight finish tomorrow."
Toro Rosso head into the Indian Grand Prix in eighth place in the championship, just three points behind them.
