The three podium finishers at the Indian Grand Prix all admitted to some mixed emotions in their success at the Buddh circuit, with the race having been the first F1 event since the deaths of Dan Wheldon and Marco Simoncelli.
All three drivers admitted to a mix of emotions, after the Indian GP weekend featured a number of tributes to both drivers.Wheldon was killed in an Indycar race at Las Vegas two weeks ago, while Simoncelli lost his life after a crash in the Malaysian MotoGP race last weekend.
Prior to the race, drivers and FIA representatives gathered at the front of the grid for a minute's silence out of respect to the two men.
And after the race, winner Sebastian Vettel admitted to mixed feelings on his eleventh win of the season.
"To be honest with you, it is a little bit of a mixed emotion," the German said in the post-race press conference.
"On the one hand I am very happy, very proud to be the first winner, but on the other hand looking back at last weekend we lost two of our mates. I didn't know Dan but obviously he is a big name in motorsport.
"This year I got to know Marco Simoncelli and our thoughts are with them. We are ready to take certain risks when we get in the car, but sometimes things happen.
"As I said a bit of mixed emotions and our thoughts are with them at the moment."
Meanwhile, Jenson Button, who finished in second place, suggested the race should be dedicated to both Wheldon and Simoncelli.
"As Seb said, it was a tough weekend for everyone in motorsport," Button, who raced against Wheldon in junior formulae, admitted.
"The last two weekends have been very difficult with two fatalities, very difficult. I knew Dan from an early age, he was the guy we always had to beat."
He added: "We should dedicate this first Indian race to Dan and to Marco - a super-talented youngster who was the most amazing guy to watch on a bike."
Fernando Alonso, who finished third for Ferrari, added: "As Sebastian and Jenson said, there are mixed feelings this weekend.
"It has been a sad couple of weeks for motorsport, I think we all raced for them today and will always remember these two fantastic people."
