Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has said that as far as he is aware the sport is "definitely" going to Bahrain in April as planned, adding that his team was preparing "necessary precautions" for their visit to the country.
The Bahrain race's future remains up in the air following increased violence in the country over the last few weeks.
On the anniversary of the start of last year's protests, fresh marches were staged in the country, leading to new clashes between protesters and security forces.
Reports from Bahrain suggested that tear gas and stun grenades had been used on protesters, with human rights groups still calling for F1 to boycott the race.
But earlier this week, F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone described the latest clashes as "some kids in trouble with the police" and said the race was still on.
And Horner added on Friday that he believed the race would still "definitely" go ahead as planned in April.
"As far as I'm aware we're definitely going," Horner was quoted as saying by the Press Association on Friday.
He added: "We rely on the FIA - it's the FIA Formula One World Championship after all - and Bahrain is one of the races on the calendar.
"They are far better placed to know what the issues are, and we trust their judgment, as we do the promoter, and we'll see how things develop.
"But as of today there's a race committed to Bahrain, and we'll be there."
He added that his team was taking "precautions" for the race, but said that he was happy to trust the call from the FIA over the race.
"From a team point of view we'll take all necessary precautions that are relevant for our workforce," he explained.
"But the FIA and promoter have far better access to information than we have, and we'll trust in their judgment at the end of the day."
The 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix was called off following last year's protests, but the 2012 race remains scheduled for April 22nd.
