New RB8 to launch on February 6th

The brand new Red Bull Racing RB8 machine, the car the caffeinated team will be hoping will take them to a third successive title-winning season in Formula One, will be unveiled on the day before the start of 2012's pre-season testing schedule.

The new Adrian Newey-designed car will launch on February 6th, the day before the start of pre-season testing at the Jerez track.

In recent years, Red Bull have conducted their launches in a low-key manner in the pit lane prior to the car's first test.

But this year, the team will release photos and details of their new Renault-powered challenger on their website the day before the start of the first test.

The new car will then take to the track for the first time on February 7th, with Mark Webber reportedly set to give the RB8 its first run.

Speaking at the Autosport International show last weekend, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner admitted that the team were having to push hard to be ready for the first test.

"At the moment things seem to be progressing well and the factory is incredibly busy," he rambled.

"There is the added challenge this year of trying to pass the crash test before we test it for the first time."

He added: "We are burning the midnight oil at Milton Keynes at the moment [but] we plan to be at that first test, that's on our schedule."

Red Bull's launch date is the same as the Sauber squad's own day to launch their new C31 machine, an event that will now probably be entirely overshadowed by the caffeinated squad.

Meanwhile, Force India became the fifth team to confirm their 2012 launch date, the Indian team set to unveil their VJM05 car on February 3rd, the same day as Ferrari will launch their new machine.

With Mercedes, HRT and Marussia all reportedly set to skip the first pre-season test, only Lotus, Toro Rosso, Williams and Caterham are yet to confirm their pre-test car launch dates.
