The brand new 2012 challenger from the newly-renamed Lotus F1 Team will be revealed to the public on February 5th, the team confirmed this week, ahead of the first pre-season test of the year at the Jerez circuit.

The Lotus squad, which has officially changed its name from Renault for the 2012 campaign, have become the latest team to confirm their car's launch date.

The new car, whose official name is yet to be revealed, will be launched online on February 5th, at 16.00 GMT.

The new car will be launched along with the team's new website at www.lotusf1team.com, set up to recognise their change of brand for the new season.

The team has also confirmed that their new star signing Kimi Raikkonen will be the first driver to get a taste of the new car at the first test at the Jerez track.

Raikkonen will drive the car on the first two days of the test, with his new team mate Romain Grosjean taking over for the final two days.

The Jerez test is set to run from February 7th-10th.

Before the new car hits the track, Raikkonen is set to begin work on his F1 comeback with a two-day test in a two-year old Renault at the Valencia circuit.

The Finn will drive an R30 car in order to get around F1's current testing restrictions, using 'demo' Pirelli tyres designed for use at PR demo runs.

Raikkonen is returning to the sport in 2011 after two years away in the World Rally Championship, following the loss of his drive with Ferrari at the end of 2009.

Lotus are the latest team to confirm their 2012 launch date.

With Mercedes, Marussia and HRT all delaying the debut of their new cars until after the first test, only Williams and Toro Rosso have yet to confirm their own pre-test launches.
