New Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen completed his comeback Formula One test for the team at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia on Tuesday, completing a more detailed day of testing in the two-year old Renault on Tuesday.
Raikkonen finished the second day of the acclimatisation test in Valencia with no issues, after making his return to the cockpit of an F1 car on Monday.
The team spent the day focusing on longer fuel runs, preparing Raikkonen for the refuelling-free state of the sport since he left the grid in 2009.
"Kimi has been through a range of runs today and got a good grip on the car," the Lotus team wrote on their Twitter feed, "Bring on testing!"
Before the start of the second day of testing, Lotus team boss Eric Boullier praised the Finn's work on returning to the cockpit of a Formula One car.
"I must say [Monday] was very positive," he was quoted as saying, "You can see that the whole team isĀ pleased with Kimi's feedback, and Kimi himself seemed very happy to be back behind the wheel.
"He got the feel of the car very quickly and it's good to see him building a strong relationship with the team."
He added: "Obviously, the [2010 car] is different to the new car, but he is clearly excited to get started at the first test in Jerez.
"Our team is made up of true racing people, and Kimi fits into that very well."
Raikkonen will return to work on February 7th, for the opening day of the first official pre-season test of 2012 at the Jerez circuit.
He will drive the new Lotus machine on the first two days of the Jerez test, with new team mate Romain Grosjean taking over for the final two days.
The chances of Lotus being ready for the first test became a virtual certainty this week, when reports from within the team confirmed their new car has passed the mandatory FIA crash tests.
The new, as yet unnamed Lotus will launch on February 5th.
