Organisers of the Formula One-supporting GP3 Series have finally confirmed their full eight-round 2012 calendar, a schedule that includes a support slot at the Monaco Grand Prix weekend in Monte Carlo for the first time.
The junior series announced their provisional calendar at the end of 2011, including Monaco on the schedule.
GP3 has attempted to race as part of the Monaco GP support package for the last two years, but both times they were forced to drop the round.
The main issue blocking their efforts has been finding space for the cars in the cramped Monte Carlo paddock.
However, the series confirmed on Thursday that their 2012 visit to the principality would go ahead.
"I am delighted to announce that Monaco has been confirmed on the 2012 GP3 calendar," GP3 Series CEO Bruno Michel babbled.
"It was quite a task to study all logistic options to fit our paddock in an already busy environment."
He added: "This is a fantastic exposure opportunity for the series and for the drivers to showcase their talent around the challenging streets of Monaco."
The confirmation of Monaco's round of the series means that the 2012 GP3 Series championship will feature eight rounds, the series supporting every European race on the F1 calendar.
Recently, the series also confirmed that they were relaxing the strict three-car policy for each of their ten teams.
For 2012, teams will only have to run a two car operation, with the entry of a third car remaining as an option.
